The Pumpkin Patch

There’s something about babies and pumpkins. It must be the similar shapes, the chunks and plumps and small-but-heavy weights of them. Whatever it is, I can’t resist putting the two together.

There are plenty of patches to choose from, but this year we headed to The Pumpkin Patch on Sauvie Island. A veritable fall festival is there: in addition to the giant gourds you can find a corn maze, a petting zoo, all manner of fried foods, a hayride to the pumpkin fields, and a farmer’s market with apples and brussels sprouts and gourds and everything you could want to fully celebrate Fall.

If You Go:

The Pumpkin Patch is open from June through November, selling farm fresh produce in their market.

Like many other Sauvie Island farms, they also offer U-Pick produce throughout the summer like berries, peaches, and tomatoes.
